This value set includes ICD9CM disorder concepts for primary headache, i.e., headache that is not the result of another medical condition. Primary headache includes migraine headache, tension headache, and cluster headache.

Purpose

(Clinical Focus: This value set includes ICD10CM disorder concepts for primary headache, i.e., headache that is not the result of another medical condition. Primary headache includes migraine headache, tension headache, and cluster headache.),(Data Element Scope: The intent of this value set is to identify people who have a diagnosis of primary headache. This element may map to "Diagnosis" Category of the Quality Data Model.),(Inclusion Criteria: Includes all headaches that are not the result of another medical condition. Includes headache disorders with vascular, muscular, and unknown etiologies. Includes migraine headache, tension headache, and cluster headache, and cough headache.),(Exclusion Criteria: Excludes headaches with etiologies originating in the skeletal system (e.g., tooth or temporomandibular joint), peripheral nervous system (e.g., Tympanic plexus neuralgia syndrome). Excludes headaches secondary to medical procedure (e.g., post-lumbar puncture), and due to the effects of a drug. Excludes headache associated with cerebrovascular events.)
